Questions

How is reading time calculated?
Reading time uses an average reading speed of 225 words per minute, and speaking time uses 130 words per minute — both are common estimates used by publishers and presenters. Your actual pace may vary with content difficulty.
How are sentences and paragraphs counted?
Sentences are counted by splitting the text on runs of . ! or ? characters and counting the non-empty pieces. Paragraphs are counted by splitting on blank lines, so a paragraph is any block of text separated from others by an empty line.
What counts as the "most common word"?
The tool lowercases every word and counts frequency, ignoring a small list of very common filler words like "the", "a", and "is" so the result is more meaningful for spotting repeated or overused terms.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs locally in your browser with JavaScript — your text is never sent to a server, which also means it works offline once the page has loaded.
