No. Everything — the camera capture, the invert, and the color correction — runs locally in your browser tab. Nothing is sent to a server.

What is the orange mask, and why does it matter?

Color negative film (C-41) is manufactured with an orange base tint that helps the printing process reproduce color accurately. A plain color invert leaves that orange cast behind; the auto color balance option stretches each color channel independently to cancel it out.

Do I need a real light table?

No — the Light Table tab turns your screen into one. Set it to full brightness, lay the film on it, and use fullscreen mode for the most even light while you photograph it.

Does this work for black & white negatives too?

Yes. Switch to "Black & white" film type and the tool skips color balancing, converting the inverted image straight to grayscale.

Can I fix rotation or a mirrored shot?

Yes. Use the Rotate left/right buttons for orientation and Mirror if your capture setup flipped the frame horizontally.

How to scan a film negative

Open the Light Table tab, set your screen to full brightness, and lay the film strip or slide on it (fullscreen keeps the light even).

Photograph the backlit negative with your phone or camera, filling the frame with the film.

Switch to the Negative Converter tab and upload that photo, or capture it directly with your webcam.

Pick color or black & white film, then let auto color balance strip the orange base mask from color negatives.

Crop out the film holder or sprocket holes, rotate or mirror if needed, fine-tune brightness, contrast, and saturation, and download the positive image.
