Questions
- What is a HEIC file, and why can't I open it?
- HEIC (and its video-capable sibling HEIF) is the photo format iPhones save by default since iOS 11 — it compresses better than JPG, but many apps, websites, and Windows programs can't open it. Converting to JPG makes the photo viewable and shareable everywhere.
- Are my photos uploaded to a server?
- No. The HEIC-to-JPG conversion runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript (the heic2any library) — your photos never leave your device.
- Can I convert more than one photo at once?
- Yes. Add as many HEIC/HEIF files as you like, convert them all with one click, and either download each JPG individually or download all of them together as a single .zip file.
- What happens if I drop a file that isn't actually HEIC?
- Files that don't look like HEIC/HEIF by name or type are skipped with a notice, and if a file fails to convert (for example, a corrupted photo), that one file shows an error while the rest of your batch keeps converting normally.
