Questions
- Why don't US Men's and US Women's sizes just differ by a fixed number?
- They're close to a consistent 1.5-size offset (a US Men's 9 is roughly a US Women's 10.5), but it's not exact across the whole range because the two scales were standardized separately and widths differ by design, not just a uniform shift. This tool uses a real reference chart rather than a single formula, so it stays accurate at both ends of the range.
- Why do EU sizes jump by whole or half numbers unevenly?
- EU (Paris point) sizing is based on the shoe's last length in two-thirds of a centimeter increments, rounded to practical production sizes — which is why the US-to-EU gap isn't perfectly linear and why some brands round differently at the half-size level.
- Is centimeter (foot length) sizing more reliable than size charts?
- Measuring your actual foot length in centimeters and matching it to a brand's specific size chart is the most reliable method, since "size 9" can vary by half a size or more between brands even within the same country's system. Use the cm column here as your most dependable anchor when shopping somewhere new.
- Does this work for kids' shoe sizes?
- No — this chart covers adult sizing only. Children's and youth sizing uses an entirely separate numbering scale that resets at a different point and isn't a simple offset from adult sizes.
