Questions
- Why would I need to convert AVIF to JPG?
- AVIF is a newer, more efficient image format that some cameras, screenshot tools, and websites now save by default, but plenty of older software, some email clients, and certain content management systems still don't accept it — converting to JPG is the quickest way to make an AVIF file open everywhere.
- Why did a file fail to convert?
- This tool relies on your browser's built-in AVIF decoder, which current Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and recent Safari (16+) all support. If a file fails, it's either corrupted or your browser is an older version without AVIF support — try updating your browser or opening the file in a different one.
- Will I lose quality converting from AVIF to JPG?
- Some — AVIF is generally more efficient than JPG at the same visual quality, so re-encoding to JPG will usually produce a larger file for the same look, or a slightly lower-quality result at a similar file size. This tool exports at 90% JPEG quality, which keeps visible loss minimal for everyday use.
- Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
- No — every image is decoded and re-encoded directly in your browser tab using the Canvas API. Nothing leaves your device, which matters for personal photos or anything else you'd rather not send to a server.
