Questions
- Is my image uploaded to a server?
- No. The image is drawn onto an HTML canvas in your browser, and the color at each pixel is read locally with the canvas API — nothing is sent anywhere.
- How accurate is the picked color?
- It reads the exact RGBA value of the pixel you click from the decoded image data, so it's as accurate as the image itself. Very large images are scaled down to a maximum dimension before sampling for performance, which can shift sampling by a pixel or two on huge photos — for pixel-perfect work on a large image, crop it closer first.
- Does the color history save between visits?
- No — the history is kept only in memory for your current session. Refreshing the page or closing the tab clears it. Use the Copy button on a color you want to keep.
- Can I use this on a phone?
- Yes, tapping the image picks a color just like clicking does. The zoomed loupe that follows the cursor is a desktop-hover convenience and won't appear on touch devices, but picking still works.
