How to use the Pomodoro Timer

  1. 1

Pick a preset — Classic (25 min focus / 5 min break), Deep Work (50/10), or Quick Sprint (15/5) — or choose Custom and set your own minutes.

  2. 2

Click Start. The ring counts down and the browser tab title updates so you can check progress at a glance.

  3. 3

When a focus or break segment ends, a short sound plays (toggle it off anytime) and, if you've granted permission, a browser notification fires.

  4. 4

Use Skip to jump to the next segment early, or Reset to restart the current one.

  5. 5

Long breaks arrive automatically after the preset's cycle count — 4 focus sessions for Classic and Quick Sprint, 3 for Deep Work.

  6. 6

From the 3 Tasks planner, click the timer icon on any daily task to link it here — the timer keeps running as you browse the rest of the site.

Questions

What are the default timer lengths?
Classic is 25 minutes of focus and a 5 minute break, with a 15 minute long break every 4 focus sessions — the traditional Pomodoro Technique split, and the default preset. Deep Work is 50/10 with a 20 minute long break every 3 sessions, for longer uninterrupted blocks. Quick Sprint is 15/5 for short bursts. Custom lets you set any minutes for focus, short break, long break, and how many focus sessions happen before a long break.
Does the timer keep running if I leave the page?
Yes. The timer is timestamp-based, not a simple countdown, so it stays accurate even if the tab is backgrounded or throttled. While it's running, a small floating widget follows you around the rest of the site so you can pause, resume, or check the time left without coming back to this page.
Where is my data stored?
Entirely in your browser's local storage. Nothing is uploaded or sent to a server — timer state, presets, and any linked task stay on your device.
How do I link a timer to a task?
Open the 3 Tasks planner and click the timer icon on any daily task. That starts (or continues) a focus session tagged with that task's name, shown both here and in the floating widget. Unlink it anytime without stopping the timer.
Can I turn off the sound or notifications?
Yes, the Sound toggle mutes the completion chime. Browser notifications are opt-in — click Enable Notifications and grant permission if you want an alert even when the tab isn't focused.
